How is AV Mentors different from LINK?LINK serves to strengthen the freshmen’s bonds with each other once a month in PE, and the upperclassmen to freshmen ratio is usually 2:12. With AV Mentors, our objective is to help freshmen adapt to high school and build strong connections with upperclassmen. We offer a 1:1 or 1:2 mentor to freshmen ratio, and our program involves both in-person and online support where we offer a unique student perspective of high school elements.

When and where will the club meet?We are planning to meet during ACCESS on Wednesdays twice a month, however we may hold other workshops or events throughout the month too. Check out our Instagram @avmentors or join our freshman Remind class to keep up with notifications of these special events!

How do I get matched with a mentor?1. Make sure you are a registered site member (check the general FAQ section for how to become a site member). 2. Head over to the Members tab and type "[Mentor]" into the search bar (must also type in the brackets to work). This search should then display all the registered and approved mentors part of AVMentors. 3. Go through all the displayed mentor profiles and check out their personal bios, where you can find their classes, teachers, extracurriculars, school clubs and more! 4. Find 2-3 mentors who you feel match you in interests, classes, and teachers etc. We recommend trying to find mentors with whom you have the highest number of matches with. 5. Using the Members Chat ion at the bottom right of the website or the little text message icon beside each mentor's profile, you can message the mentors you'd like to be mentored by. We don't recommend messaging all your mentor options at once - try asking one first, and the arrangement doesn't work, then you can message another **If a mentor has a purple badge called "Assigned," that means they have already been assigned to a freshman already and cannot mentor another freshman** 6. Once you and your prospective mentor have come to an agreement and would like to be paired up together, please contact the officers of your pairing so we can assign your mentor the Assigned badge and record your official match down. 7. And that's it! Have fun with your mentor!

How do I apply to be a mentor? We're super excited you're interested in becoming a mentor! To apply to be a mentor, fill out this form: https://avmentors.typeform.com/to/kFeLHn. It generally takes us around 1 week to process your application, after which we will send you an email with the subject heading "Welcome to AVMentors" that will include all the instructions you need to complete your mentor profile.

How much time commitment is required for a mentor? Each mentor dedicates at least 2 hours per month, which is the amount of time our mentor-mentee check-in meetings take. However, many of our mentors enjoy participating and helping out with extra workshops and events we hold, and a lot of our mentors and mentees like to regularly text and chat with each other.

How do I get paired with a mentee?1. Make sure you have completed the mentor application form linked above. 2. After your application has been approved, our team will have sent you an email titled "Welcome to AVMentors" where you'll be directed on how to build and complete your mentor profile. 3. During the first few weeks of school, an abundance of freshmen will be joining our organization and looking for mentors. If they think you'll be a good match for them, they'll message you through the Members Chat available at the bottom right of the screen. When you chat with them, ask them about their classes and interests so you can also develop an idea for yourself about how many matches you have. Our team recommends mentors to pair up with mentees that share similar classes, teachers, and extracurriculars etc. 4. Once you and your prospective mentor have come to an agreement and would like to be paired up together, please contact the officers of your pairing so we can record the match down and assign you the purple "Assigned" badge, which shows that you already have a mentee. 5. And that's it! Have fun with your mentee!
